With winter quickly shedding her hold on the McCall valley, Jug Mountain Ranch is gearing up for another amazing season of golf! Our grounds crew has been hard at work making sure the course will be in great playing condition for our season open tentatively set for Memorial Day weekend. While not every inch of turf is perfect, we couldn’t be happier with how beautifully the course came out of winter. Here is a view of the green on #7 taken April 23rd. Green greens! On August 13th, join us for a Mountain Bikefest weekend! Wild Rockies and Jug Mountain Ranch will be bringing a Short Track XC and kids ride to McCall along with a whole line-up of fun events to make this a weekend event not to miss!

Racing starts with the Short Track XC at 11am and wraps up with the kids STXC at 1:30pm. For the little ones not racing, a special Kids Camp will be offered starting at 10:30am to free up mom and dad for a few hours. Bring everyone back together for lunch after the racing with a special menu on the Jug Mountain Ranch Clubhouse patio.

KIDS CAMP: The Children’s House in McCall is excited to offer a two hour Kids Camp on race day. The camp will begin at 10:30am and end at 12:30pm. We have a fun nature walk planned where kids will be able to burn off some of that energy and also see some of the racing action! Pre-Registration is required. To pre-register kids for the Kids Camp please email jmr@jugmountainranch.com. Cost is $10 per child and kids potty trained to 10 years of age are welcome! Space is limited to 20 kids, so don’t wait to book! Contact us today!

MAKE IT A WEEKEND: We are excited to offer racers and spectators alike the opportunity to stay overnight in McCall and take advantage of the fabulous summer weather. Check out the Rustic Inn for a great lodging option. This hotel has been recently remodeled and is just a few minute walk to Salmon River Brewery! SUNDAY DRIVE RIDE: On Sunday, CIMBA has organized a fun group ride to Goose Creek Falls. This is a beautiful ride on newly improved trails. Shuttle service to the trailhead will be offered starting at 10:0am Sunday morning from the Goose Creek Falls campground!

The 16th Annual Shepherd’s Home Golf Tournament, Dinner, and Auction is scheduled for Friday, August 12th at Jug Mountain Ranch! The Shepherd’s Home was founded in 1998 and continues to provide a safe, family home for children in need. Each year, this wonderful event provides the Shepherd’s Home with a large portion of the funds needed to operate each year. Proceeds will go directly to feed, clothe, support, and provide a loving home for children in the area.

This year’s event is scheduled to kick off with a 4-person scramble golf tournament followed by dinner and both a silent and live auction. Not a golfer? No worries! We invite you to join us at 5pm for the dinner and auction portion!

As adults, we tend to be a bit hesitant to try new sports. Maybe it is the fear that we will look completely uncoordinated. Maybe it is the fear that we will pull a muscle. Whatever the reason, here is a bit of inspiration to help you get over that fear and try something new! Jug Mountain recently hosted a Junior Clinic and we can only say…WOW! These kids are amazing! And if the pictures aren’t proof enough, the range cart driver can attest to the superior skills of this group after getting pelted with strategically aimed golf balls on the last day of the clinic. Talk about fast learners!

Our next Junior Golf Clinic is scheduled for August 10th. This one-hour program begins at 10am and is just $15 per person!

The Wild Rockies Mountain Bike Race Series is back at Jug this weekend for another great race on Sunday, July 10th with the Mini-DH and Super D! A great outing for the entire family with race practice starting at 10am followed by a race start at noon. Stick around for awards and live music from Fast Burning Whale at 2pm. Music will continue until 4pm! Shuttles will be available for those wanting to hit the trails following the race – you won’t want to miss the amazing new course features built just this week!

Join us for a special day at Jug Mountain Ranch at the Winemaker Invitational on June 30, 2011. This exclusive event offers an opportunity to take in 18 holes of golf with one of the region’s leading winemakers then retire to the Clubhouse for an intimate tasting of premium library wines. Appetizer pairings and commemorative wine glass are also included.

An all inclusive package including 18 holes of golf with a winemaker, tasting, food pairings, and wine glass is only $95 per person. The 4th annual Wild Rockies Jug Mountain Ranch XC and XC Marathon race is coming June 25th and 26th! Hosted on Jug’s premier single-track bike course, this race is one of the few in Idaho where riders can qualify for entry into the National Championships. The event lineup includes:

Trail Run | Saturday, June 25th @ 9am | 10 miles (1 loop)
XC bike race | Saturday, June 25th @ noon | 1, 2, or 3 loops depending on category (1 loop = 10 miles)
XC Bike Marathon | Sunday, June 26th @ 10am | 42 miles (about 4 loops)

Get ready for the first major tournament of the season at Jug! On June 25th and 26th Jug will be hosting a 4-person Scramble tournament open to both men and women. Entry fees are $300 per team or $75 per person with 100% of the entry fee returned in prize money!

The tournament format will be a two-day Scramble. Just in case you aren’t familiar with a Scramble tournament, the method is pretty simple: each player tees off on each hole, the best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot, the best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed. This is a great way for all skill levels to play together!
